Which tool gathers a node fastest?
Every ore node has 500 HPThe total you get from a node is fixed (Stone 750 · Metal 500 · Sulfur 200) no matter the tool — a better tool just clears it faster. Speed = gather damage × how quickly it swings, so the Jackhammer wins by a mile on rate even though its per-hit damage is lower. Hitting the glowing hot-spot deals bonus damage, so real time is a little lower.

Scattered pickups
Loose ore stones on the ground — press E to grab one, no tool needed. The quickest early-game ore before you craft a pickaxe.

Giant Excavator
The monument machine: supply it with power, pick one resource at the control room and feed it Diesel Fuel. It then mines up to the amount below — full output takes about 120s of running, produced every 1s. The site is guarded by Scientists.
