Giant Excavator Tips
- The Excavator is located at the Giant Excavator monument. It requires a Blue Keycard to access.
- Each diesel fuel lasts 2 minutes of continuous excavation.
- You can only excavate one resource type at a time — switch between HQM, Metal, Sulfur, or Stone.
- The excavator makes a very loud noise and is visible from far away, attracting PvP encounters.
- Resources are deposited in the output hopper — collect them before leaving!
- Diesel fuel can be found in barrels, crates, and at gas stations on the road.
Rust Giant Excavator Guide
The Giant Excavator is one of the most efficient ways to gather large quantities of resources in Rust. Located at its own monument, the excavator converts diesel fuel into massive amounts of raw materials. It's especially valuable for HQM ore, which is otherwise slow to farm by hand.
Is the Excavator Worth It?
For HQM farming, absolutely. A single diesel fuel yields 100 HQM ore (100 HQM after smelting), which would take significantly longer to farm from nodes. For metal and sulfur, it depends on your server population — the excavator is a PvP hotspot and you risk losing everything. Stone is generally not worth the risk since stone nodes are abundant and safe to farm.
