Methodology
Tested in game on our own server. "Any player" commands work for everyone; "Admin" ones need owner or moderator rights on that server, and ownerid needs owner rights; "Server console" ones run only from the server console or RCON; "Client setting" values are set by the server and read by your client. Client-side commands (graphics, input, audio) are not in this list; the bind builder uses the standard keybind names.
Rust console commands: common questions
- How do I open the console in Rust?
- Press F1 to open the console. Type a command and press Enter. Press F1 again to close it.
- How do I bind a key in Rust?
- Open the F1 console and type bind, the key, then the commands in quotes, for example bind z "forward;sprint". A + in front of an action makes it run only while the key is held. unbind z removes it.
- How do I auto run in Rust?
- Bind a key to forward and sprint: bind z "forward;sprint". Press the key once to start running and again to stop. The Auto-run preset above builds it for you.
- How do I give myself items in Rust?
- With admin rights, open F1 and run inventory.give followed by the item shortname and amount, for example inventory.give rifle.ak 1. inventory.giveto sends items to another player.
- Which Rust commands can a normal player use?
- 42 commands on this page work for any player, like kill, respawn, chat.teamsay and combatlog. Admin commands need owner or moderator rights on that server; ownerid needs owner rights. Server console ones run only from the server console or RCON.
