Rock
The default tool every player spawns with. Used to harvest wood, stone, and other resources at a very slow rate. Can also be used as a primitive melee weapon.
Stone Pickaxe
A basic pickaxe made from stone and wood. Gathers ore from rock nodes significantly faster than the Rock. Your first crafting priority after spawning.
Stone Hatchet
A basic hatchet for chopping trees. Gathers wood much faster than the Rock. Also useful as an early melee weapon.
Pickaxe
A metal pickaxe that mines ore nodes very efficiently. Significantly better than the stone pickaxe with longer durability.
Salvaged Axe
A metal axe that chops trees very efficiently. The best craftable wood gathering tool with good durability.
Salvaged Hammer
A heavy salvaged hammer primarily used as a melee weapon. Deals good damage and can be used for resource gathering, though less efficient than dedicated tools.
Jackhammer
A powerful pneumatic jackhammer that mines ore nodes extremely fast. The best mining tool in the game. Found in crates or purchased from Outpost.
Chainsaw
A motorized chainsaw that chops trees extremely fast. The best wood gathering tool in the game. Burns Low Grade Fuel. Found in crates or purchased from Outpost.
Bone Knife
A knife made from bone fragments. Excellent for harvesting animal corpses for more resources than other tools. Also a decent early melee weapon.
Building Plan
The essential tool for placing building structures. Select from foundations, walls, floors, stairs, and other structural pieces. Every builder needs one.
Hammer
Used to upgrade, repair, rotate, and demolish building structures. Essential for base construction and maintenance alongside the Building Plan.
Wire Tool
Used to connect electrical components with wires. Essential for any electricity setup. Point at an output port and drag to an input port.
Hose Tool
Used to connect fluid (water) components with hoses. Functions like the Wire Tool but for water plumbing systems.
Torch
A basic torch that provides light and can be used as a weak melee weapon. Every player spawns with one alongside the Rock.
Flashlight
A handheld electric flashlight providing a focused beam of light. Brighter and longer range than the torch but requires no fuel.
Binoculars
Optical binoculars for scouting at long distances. Zoom in to observe monuments, players, and points of interest from safety.
Paper Map
A craftable paper map showing the island layout. Can be used in combination with the in-game map (G key) for sharing hand-drawn markers.
Handmade Fishing Rod
A handmade fishing rod for catching fish. Use with bait (worms, grubs, minnows) near bodies of water. A peaceful way to earn food and scrap.
Paddle
A wooden paddle used to row kayaks and as a basic melee weapon. Required for kayak propulsion.
Spray Can
A spray can for painting signs, picture frames, and other paintable surfaces. Also used to apply skins to items at a Repair Bench.
Camera
A handheld camera for taking in-game photographs. Photos can be placed in picture frames. A fun utility item.
Survey Charge
A small explosive charge used to survey the ground for mineral deposits. Reveals what resources quarries would extract at a location.
Green Keycard
A green access keycard used to open Tier 1 puzzle doors at monuments. Found on tables and desks at minor monuments. The first step in the keycard progression.
Blue Keycard
A blue access keycard used to open Tier 2 puzzle doors at monuments. Found behind green card puzzles or on scientist corpses.
Red Keycard
A red access keycard used to open Tier 3 puzzle doors at the highest-tier monuments. Found behind blue card puzzles.
Shovel
A shovel for digging up stuff. Can uncover buried stashes and treasures.
Metal Detector
Detects metal objects which may otherwise be hidden. When the light flashes or you hear a beep, aim to search for buried items.
Water Bucket
A bucket for transporting water or other liquids. Can be used to water plants or extinguish fires.
Compass
A compass that shows your current heading. Useful for navigation and callouts.
RF Transmitter
A radio frequency transmitter that can trigger RF receivers and explosive charges remotely.
