Rust Force Wipe Schedule 2026
Force wipes in Rust occur on the first Thursday of every month at 18:00 UTC (11:00 AM Pacific, 2:00 PM Eastern). During a force wipe, Facepunch releases a mandatory game update that resets all official and community servers. All player-built structures, items, and map data are wiped clean.
Force Wipe vs Server Wipe
A force wipe is different from a regular server wipe. Server owners can wipe their servers at any time on their own schedule (weekly, biweekly, monthly), but force wipes affect ALL servers simultaneously. Some servers also perform blueprint wipes during force wipes, but this is up to the server owner — the force wipe itself only guarantees a map wipe.
Why Does Rust Wipe?
Wipes serve several purposes: they allow Facepunch to deploy major updates and changes, they reset the economy to prevent extreme wealth inequality, and they give new players a fair starting point. The wipe cycle is a core part of Rust's gameplay loop — the excitement of a fresh wipe day is one of the most popular aspects of the game.
