How it works
- A player starts it at the satellite control computer: power it up, pick a satellite, then steer it with the thrusters.
- The steering window lasts 3 minutes on default server settings. Locking the aim ends it early.
- Each thruster that moves the aim shifts it 200 m. The crash circle starts at 300 m radius. Each thruster that tightens it takes 25 m off, down to 100 m.
- When the window ends, the game looks for a safe spot inside the circle, away from player buildings and safe zones. If it finds none, the launch is cancelled.
- The computer rests 18 in-game hours between uses. At the default day length of 80 minutes, that is 60 real minutes.
- On impact, players within 10 m die and buildings, deployables, vehicles and plants there are destroyed.
- The crash crates burn for 5 minutes and cannot be looted until the fire ends. The wreck stays too hot to harvest for 8 minutes. Satellite Crate
- What the wreck gives when harvested: Satellite Remains
Methodology
Tested in game on our own server: the timers, spawn counts, rewards and damage settings this event uses by default. A server can change these. Tested on the current version of Rust.
