Take one Rust wipe: about 7,700 active players and 58,800 player kills, counted on day 22, near the end of the wipe. The kills were not shared out evenly. Not even close.
The top 1% of players, about 77 players, made 30.7% of every kill in the wipe. The top 10% made 79.9%. Meanwhile 54.0% of all players did not kill anyone at all.

Half the players leave within an hour
The zero-kill crowd is mostly a crowd of short visits. Half of all players spent 57 minutes or less in the game across the whole wipe. Many barely stayed: 16.5% spent five minutes or less in total.
Only 12.8% of players logged more than 16 hours. The players who stay all wipe are a small group.

Kills come with time
Split the players by how long they stayed, and the zero-kill share falls fast. Almost nobody who left within five minutes got a kill. Of players who stayed four to eight hours, 17.5% still had none.
So if you went a whole evening without a kill, you are in large company. Two days into the next wipe, 40.6% of its roughly 2,200 players had no kills yet. Want to know who keeps killing you? Look up their stats.

Methodology
The numbers cover the active players in one September 2026 wipe, counted on day 22, including players with no kills and very short visits. Kills are player kills. Time is the total minutes each player spent in the wipe.
One wipe is a single case. Other wipes, wipe lengths and rule sets will differ.
