Status Effects & Conditions

Bleeding, radiation, cold, wet, hunger, comfort, and every status effect in Rust.

01Health & Vital Stats

Every player has 4 vital stats that must be managed:

Health (100 max): Depleted by damage, hunger, cold, radiation. Healed by medical items, food, and comfort. Hunger (100-500 cal): Drains constantly. Below 40: lose health. At 0: rapid death. Thirst (100-250ml): Drains faster than hunger. Below 40: lose health. At 0: rapid death. Comfort (0-100%): Gained from shelter, warmth, chairs. Slowly heals HP when above 50%.

02Environmental Effects

The environment constantly affects your character.

03Wound System

When your HP hits 0, you enter a "wounded" (downed) state instead of dying immediately. You can crawl slowly and have about 60 seconds before bleeding out.

Teammates can revive you by holding E on your body. This takes about 5 seconds and restores you to ~5 HP. You can self-revive with a small random chance (~10%).

If you take additional damage while wounded, you die instantly. If no one revives you, you bleed out and die.

04Comfort & Healing

Comfort is a passive healing mechanic. When your comfort level is above 50%, you slowly regenerate HP. Comfort comes from:

- Being inside a base with a roof - Sitting in chairs or on couches - Standing near a fire - Having a rug deployed nearby - Being in a sleeping bag

Max comfort healing rate is about 1 HP every 3-4 seconds. It's free but very slow — useful for topping off between fights but not a combat mechanic.

Pro Tips
  • Place a chair near a fire for maximum comfort boost
  • Comfort healing stacks with food healing for faster recovery
  • Rugs placed on the floor increase the comfort zone area
  • You can reach 100% comfort inside a fully enclosed warm room with fire + chair
